The Sky Garden

 

You can’t beat the London skyline at night… It’s just breath-taking!

But I’m getting ahead of myself. It was my mama’s birthday.

OK, it was actually her birthday back in August, but for said birthday we had booked to go for drinks at the Sky Garden and thought we’d make a day of it. 

We met at Knightsbridge tube and popped into Harrods to do some Christmas shopping and have tea before heading to the Sky Garden.

Housed in the Walkie Talkie building, the sky garden is London’s highest public garden. You do have to book in advance to visit, but the best bit? It doesn’t cost a penny! Now THAT’S what I call a bargain. 

The space itself is gorgeous and is home to the Fenchurch Restaurant, Darwin Brasserie and the Sky Pod Bar. You can see all of the how/when/where detail on the Sky Garden website.

Being as it was a celebration, we thought it rude not to have a drink from their fabulous menu and all immediately honed in on the delicious cocktails.

An Chelsea Garden for mama and I, a Berry Mojito for the sis, all craftily whipped up in a flourish of cucumber and mint by this charming chap.

Yummy huh?

We sat, chatted, sipped and laughed our way through the cocktails before taking a wander to explore the whole space.

We went just after dusk so saw the beautiful London skyline as the sky turned to a deep inky blue and couldn’t resist asking a friendly looking security man (who was trying to blend in surreptitiously) to take a family snap.

Suitably tipsy and tummies rumbling we scurried back down to the ground floor and jumped in an Uber to my new favourite restaurant in Soho… but you’ll have to wait to hear about that!

PS - I realise there are two ridiculous parts to the start of this post: we were Christmas shopping in October; we were Christmas shopping in Harrods.

I’d like to point out that isn’t the norm for us but we have family in New Zealand and so you have to post presents super early to ensure they arrive in time and we always send them quintessential things to remind them of England, hence, Christmas shopping in Harrods in October!
